A Major Production

Four high schools in Lewisville ISD are aiming for the stars. Flower Mound, Hebron, The Colony, and Marcus high schools have big plans to involve students in their theater departments. These auditoriums that seat almost 850 each are used for plays, musicals, concerts, school & community meetings, and sometimes even host church services. The facilities were built in 1988 and 2001 and have just received their first major upgrades in lighting and audio.

Electro Acoustics took the roles of General Contractor and System Integrator since we are proficient in both lighting and audio. This streamlined the process since we were able to oversee, perform, and schedule the project while saving the Lewisville ISD the cost of an outside General Contractor. This resulted in a very efficient project!

The system needed to accommodate a large number of mic inputs for music and production cues for special effects. With the Yamaha CL-S digital mixing console and remote in/out boxes, the system has a total of 72 mic inputs and is adaptable for a wide range of programs. Also, the SLS line arrays and JBL subwoofers provide excellent coverage and ensure there is not a bad seat in the house.

Michael Todd, Assistant Principal of Colony High School stated, “You can now actually hear everyone on stage. They have done a great job with installation as well as customer service.”

The consultant on these projects, Rob Lee with BAi , required CTS certified technicians and CTS-I certified project leads. Electro Acoustics has worked very hard to become a CTS Diamond Level Certified company. Our system designers are CTS-D, and project leads CTS or CTS-I certified.

The System Designer for Electro Acoustics on these projects was Doug Viere and Project Leads were Preston Myers and Peter Herb.
