Achieving Balance!
Christ Presbyterian Church in Flower Mound Texas recently remodeled their sanctuary. As part of the remodel they wanted to bring the church sound system up to date and achieve a better balance between speech and choral/acoustical music. The existing room acoustics were good for acoustical sources and worship, but the clarity of speech was less than desired. Electro Acoustics was approached to develop a solution that would provide both speech clarity and maintain musical quality. Of course the system needed to be flexible, have low visual impact, and be within their budget. A lot to balance!
Electro Acoustics’ engineers developed a solution using Tannoy VLS-30 line array speakers, Behringer X-32 digital mixer, and Acoustics in a Box acoustical treatments. The line array speakers were custom painted and nearly impossible to see, yet provide exceptionally clear speech to every seat. The Acoustics in a Box wall panels brought the room reverberation to a very balanced level for both music and speech.
After hearing the system for the first time Rod Alexander with the church said the words we always love to hear “It Sounds Awesome!” Another Electro Acoustics inspired customer. Doug Viere, CTS, with EA was the project engineer, Preston Meyers, CTS the project lead, and Paul Trimble, CTS, the account manager.
