Between a Rock and a Hard Place
RockPointe Church in Flower Mound, Texas hit a transition point when they needed a new sanctuary to accommodate their growing congregation. While this was a great thing for the church, it also posed an issue because they immediately needed more space and new equipment to replace their existing A/V/L systems which were in poor condition.
Electro Acoustics was hired to not only replace the church’s existing equipment, but to look at the bigger picture and help the church seamlessly transition the new equipment to a new sanctuary when it came time. This saved the church from wasting money on two different A/V/L systems.
The existing Avid console was moved to a balcony in the church to create more room for seating on the main floor. A new Meyer line array speaker system was installed with the plan that more speakers would be added to them when the church moved to the new sanctuary. With those changes, the new Panasonic Pro video equipment, and Strand lighting console, the existing A/V/L systems were substantially improved! With all the new equipment in place in the existing sanctuary it provided the system operators a chance to become proficient before the transition and first services in the new sanctuary.
After the existing facility had its upgrade, Electro Acoustics then designed the A/V/L systems for the new facility using the existing equipment and the transition was seamless! The new church was designed by Dallas architectural firm Oglesby Green. The room acoustics were excellent for both speech and contemporary music thanks to Bill Johnson of Dallas based Acoustic Design Associates.
