Rebirth

Broadway Baptist Church in Ft. Worth experienced a rebirth of its 65 year old sanctuary this summer. Broadway Baptist maintains their commitment to minister to the whole city, including the inner city, by staying in their current location. Ft. Worth architectural firm Hahnfeld, Hoffer, Stanford led the remodel design. Architect Michael Hoffer brought in Electro Acoustics, Inc., teamed with Idibri of Dallas to design and install a new sound system.

The room acoustics, in excess of 4 seconds, were excellent for acoustical performance and organ recitals but very difficult for speech clarity. Electro Acoustics and Idibri selected a recently introduced Tannoy digitally steerable line array that is 18 feet tall! The Tannoy Qflex 64 array provided exceptional control of the sound energy resulting is clear, natural speech to every seat. The 18 foot tall arrays are nearly impossible to see in their location just outside the organ pipes!

Yamaha QL Series digital consoles were employed for the front of house mix position and broadcast suite making use of the new Dante’ digital media platform. Earthworks and Neumann microphones were used for the pulpit and choir. The church has been very positive about the substantial improvement in speech clarity!

Steve Burge CTS-D was the project Engineer and Luke Jordan CTS-I was the project lead for Electro Acoustics.
